Need traffic? We’ve created a list of 6 tips to use in order to significantly boost traffic to your eCommerce site.

As an eCommerce business owner, you’ll no doubt want to increase your web traffic as much as possible. However, with so many other sites out there, it can be difficult to attract and sustain the right amount of web traffic.

If you’re aiming to increase visits to your eCommerce site and boost sales, the tips below can help.

Create Blog Posts Around Products

Blog content is an increasingly important element of boosting web traffic. While you may think that a blog is unnecessary for an eCommerce site, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Publishing consistent, high-quality content around the products that you sell can drive lots of traffic to your site.

If your store focuses on a particular niche area, try to develop content that revolves around that. Alternatively, you could focus on key products and produce content around those instead. The important thing to remember when it comes to driving traffic is that you are more than just an online store. Blog content allows you to gain authority in your particular area, which will appeal to would-be customers.

Also, remember that blog content can take all manner of forms. Whether it’s articles, product reviews, news pieces, or other research, utilize this aspect of your site to build keywords and drive more traffic to your eCommerce site.

Run Social Media Campaigns

Social media campaigns can be one of the best ways to promote your business. The beauty of social media ads is that you can create highly targeted campaigns that are aimed at specific audiences and demographics.

If you’re still not convinced, bear in mind that as of 2020, there were some 2.6 billion monthly active users on Facebook. In addition, Facebook also provides a robust advertising platform to its business accounts, allowing you to aim your ad at specific users based on their behavior, interests, location, age, and more.

Instagram is another highly popular platform that you can use to generate ads. As well as building your business profile, you can also send highly targeted ads to your audience. Make sure you sign up for the Instagram Business account and find ways to gain a following through hashtags and creating images or videos.

Utilize Email Marketing

Did you know that email marketing produces the highest return on investment (ROI)? If you haven’t started email marketing yet, this is a strategy to implement. Some estimate that you can average an ROI of around $40 for every dollar spent when using email marketing.

The first step to an email marketing campaign is, of course, to grow or build an email list! There are several ways to do this: one is to create a sign-up button on your site where users can input their email address and receive regular updates or newsletters. You could also have a sign-up form at the bottom of your site’s footer so that customers can receive emails about your promotions.

Once you’ve acquired a healthy list of emails, you’ll want to set up a campaign and track the progress. For example, you’ll want to know how many people are opening your emails and whether they’re converting to sales. This can be tricky to get right because if it’s done poorly, it can cause customers to become annoyed and unsubscribe from your list.

If you’re new to the world of marketing, you may want to enlist the help of experts such as those at Nuanced Media. Not only can they help you optimize your store, but they can help you develop a sound marketing campaign that is sure to convert.

Capitalize on Friends and Family

Capitalize on Friends and Family Boost Traffic to Your eCommerce Site

If your eCommerce site has just been launched, getting friends and family to help with the promotion is an easy marketing technique to employ. Not only can this generate awareness and traffic, but you may even get a load of sales from it. However, it’s best not to try and focus on getting people to buy your products. What you want from this process is an expanded network.

The key thing to remember when going this route is that even though it’s your friends and family, you can still approach this in a targeted way. Rather than just contacting everyone you know, find people who may want or need your products and go from there. Who knows? If they are in your niche market, they will likely have other contacts that have similar interests and/or needs.

Be SEO-Friendly

Knowing search engine optimization (SEO) is vitally important when it comes to eCommerce. SEO optimization will ensure that customers can find you when they conduct searches on Google. It will also help your store rank on Google search engines so that you’re visible to would-be customers.

If you’re new to SEO, try to learn about critical SEO terms, such as keywords and backlinks, and how you should use them. Building keywords is one of the most crucial aspects of SEO, and you’ll want to be building this through your website pages — especially your blog. Sites like Google Trends, SEMrush, or Ahrefs can also help you perform a tailored keyword search.

Again, if SEO is too daunting for you, it is worth it to hire an expert in this area as they can help you build a solid SEO campaign into your eCommerce site.

Optimize for Mobile

Before your eCommerce store is up and running, it’s also important to make sure that it’s optimized for mobile phones and other devices. A poor user experience could not only make or break a sale, but it could also harm your reputation.

To remain competitive, you should ensure that your website is mobile optimized during the development stage. You may even want to build an app so that customers can download it directly onto their phones.

Research has shown that people are increasingly using their phones (rather than computers) to make purchases online. This means that if your site isn’t capitalizing on mobile phone users, then it may be left behind in the dust.

Get More Traffic, Get More Sales

With these proven tactics in your marketing strategy, you should now be able to generate more traffic to your eCommerce site. More website traffic means more opportunities to turn those casual visitors into paying customers.
