The Internet consists of billions of web pages and gets together millions of new web pages every day. Unless your website is among the top of search engine results, no one will know your pages exists. This post will help you to increase your search engine traffic and page quality.
Tips to increase search engine traffic to your site
Content is the King!
- Create new and original content.
Do not copy and paste from another websites. Search engines use web robots designed to search a website and grab keywords and text from the website. If your website consist original, relevant contents your chances of being found are significantly increased.
- Update and add new content frequently.
If your website has frequently updated content visitors will bookmark your site and return again. Search engine crawlers will visit your site more often. I recommend you; create at least 3 or 4 new posts add it to your website weekly.
- Add content even if your site only sells products.
Most users do not visit a website with a purpose only to purchasing a product. It is better if your website contain complete information about the products such as how to setup, how it can be used, reviews and comments from other users about your products. It also likely they will convert into visitors that buy what is being sold.
- Format your website content in an easy to read and scan format.
Doing this will make your web page more attractive and it will help to reduce the bounce rate (amount of visitors to a web page that leave after only visiting one page). The first paragraph of your website’s post is most important aspect. The first paragraph of your website’s article will catch not only search engines but also your visitors. Web pages that only contain a few words do not help your visitors. Make sure that at least every page has 250 words.
Domain Name, Titles, and URL
You must plan your website’s domain name. Your domain name must be easy to spell and remember. Make sure that the name is short and simple.
Search engines use the titles of your webpage to displaying your site in their search results. Therefore, it is always smart idea to put the keywords about your webpage content. Keep the title short and easily understandable. For example; “Ethical ways to increase your sites search traffic”, this title is not only descriptive but also uses keywords: Ethical Ways, Increase, Search traffic. Remember that the maximum length of title before it gets cut off is 70 characters.
Meta tags are hidden text found in the source of a webpage queried by search engines and browsers. There is an example for Meta Tag.
<title>Woblogger – Learn Web Skills, Change Your World</title>
<meta name=”description” content=”WOBLOGGER.COM is a free WordPress resource site for Beginners. The main goal of Woblogger is to provide quality tips, tricks, hacks, and other WordPress resources that allows WordPress beginners to improve their site(s).”/>
<meta name=”keywords” content=”woblogger, start a blog, wordpress tutorials, hosting, blogging”/>
You’d better focus on the long tail keywords. A great benefit of staying focused with long tail key terms is that they usually convert better as well. You can use Google’s Keyword Tool to find long tail keywords that are not as competitive, and then structure some content around those.
