How to Install WordPress on Dreamhost?
Login to your dreamhost webpanel. On the homepage click on “One click installs“.
On the One-Click Installs page, scroll down until you see “WordPress“, and click it.
The a pop-up window will open and click the “Custom Installation” button (big blue button).
After clicking custom installation, the bottom of the pop-up window will expand to include a few installation options.
If you like to install wordpress to root directory, select your domain name. If you want to install WordPress to sub folder, type a folder name in the next white box. Select Database should be set to “Automatically Create Database”, so leave that as-is. We recommend you to uncheck “Deluxe Install.
Then Click the “Install it for me now!” blue button. You should now see a green “Success!” message at the top of the screen.
After some time, you will receive an Email from the “DreamHost Installer Robot” stating that Successfully installed WordPress on your account.
That email contains a link to click, that will look something like this:
You must click on it to go to the last step in your installation. You’ll see the WordPress install screen.
Then fill out site title, usename, password and your email. If you’re just starting your first site, I recommend unchecking the “Allow my site to appear in search engines…” checkbox. You can easily let search engines back in once your site is ready for prime time.
Click “Install WordPress.” You should see a success message.
Now, login using the WordPress credentials you have created in above screen.
