Are you looking for install a WordPress theme? As a beginner, you should know about WordPress themes. Fundamentally, the WordPress Theme system is a way to “skin” your weblog. Yet, it is more than just a “skin.” Skinning your site implies that only the design is changed. Install a WordPress Theme using Admin Theme Search
If you like to install a free WordPress theme from the WordPress.org themes directory, this is the easiest way to install theme using he WordPress admin theme search functionality.
Login to your WordPress dashboard and Navigate to Appearance > Themes.
On the next screen, you will see themes that have already installed on your server and, then click “Add new” at the top to install a new WordPress theme.
You can sort themes by “featured”, “popular”, or any advanced “feature filter” that you’re looking for.
If you like the look of the theme’s thumbnail, click anywhere on it to bring up a preview window. If you like the preview (on the right panel), click install. Otherwise, click the “X” button and you’ll go back to your search screen.
Install a WordPress Theme by using Upload Method from Admin
The first method that we covered only allows you to install free themes that are available in the WordPress.org theme’s directory. But, if you want to install a “Premium” WordPress theme from best premium WordPress themes clubs, you can use this method. Usually most of premium theme clubs offer Themes in .Zip format, which you can use to install WP theme directly from dashboard.
Navigate to Appearance> Themes > Add New > Upload.
You will be prompted to choose the zip file that you downloaded earlier. Select the file and click “Install Now”.
WordPress will now install your theme and show you a success message along with the link to activate. Click on the activate button, and you’ve successfully installed and activated your WordPress theme.
Note: The theme upload functionality is only available for self-hosted WordPress.org users. If you’re using WordPress.com, then you will not see this option because it limits you.
Installing a WordPress Theme using FTP
To get started with FTP method to install theme, you need to have FTP software like FileZilla or your cPanel should offer FTP access from web panel. Apart from FTP, you need to have software like WinRAR to unpack .zip file.
Connect to your host using FTP software. You would need to go to the path (/wp-content/themes/). Once you’re there, simply upload your theme’s folder there.
Remember you must unzip the folder before you upload a theme using FTP and upload the files containing in unzipped folder. Once you have uploaded the theme, you would need to go to your admin area and click on Appearance » Themes.
Now it’s time to preview and activate the theme.
